About the program
Move & Groove:
Fun, Safe, and Active Learning

Move & Groove was founded on a simple but powerful vision: to bring the energy and spirit of a summer camp experience to the youth we serve, right here in Kansas City. At The Bridge, we believe that education and mentorship go hand in hand with truly listening to our students and creating experiences they genuinely look forward to.
We are committed to the whole student. That means that alongside focused learning and personal development, we prioritize joy, freedom, and the kind of memorable moments that remind young people they are seen, valued, and cared for. Because when young minds feel that sense of belonging and excitement, they are more open, more engaged, and more ready to grow.
Objective
Move & Groove provides students with a purposeful space to relax, have fun, and build meaningful relationships with their peers. Through shared experiences across Kansas City, students develop their social and emotional intelligence in an environment that feels natural and enjoyable.
Purpose
Students will explore parts of Kansas City they have never seen before, gaining a deeper connection to their city and community. Following each experience, students will reflect on their time through written expression, serving as both a creative outlet and a measure of the impact these moments have on their growth and development.
Day One of Move & Groove 2025 took students to the South Patrol Police Station, where officers and staff welcomed them with genuine respect and warmth. Students explored a variety of career paths within law enforcement, including the Bomb Squad, K9 Unit, Traffic Control, and DUI Enforcement — broadening their perspective on community service and the professional opportunities available to them.
